Frank Roach, Dentist has come to be known as one of the best general dentists in the Atlanta area. His practice gets excellent reviews, and he is interested in building relationships with his patients rather than treating them as a number. He knows that dentistry is an art as well as a science, and he understands how to use all of the tools at his disposal to enhance a patient’s self-esteem.
How did you get involved in the dental industry?
I became involved in the dental business right out of dental school. I was able to save up some money and open my own private practice right away. I have always wanted to be in a medical profession, and when I got to dental school, I knew I had made the right choice. When I got into private practice, it was the realization of a dream for me.
I enjoyed being able to see my patients twice a year, and that I had a close relationship with them. I have always encouraged my patients to stay on top of their dental health. This can be more challenging for my anxious patients, so I take extra time to treat them with care.
Did you ever doubt your business idea?
When I was in dental school, I was anxious about the prospect of running my own business. Luckily, I was able to hire some excellent assistants and dental hygienists to make my practice work. Getting into business for the first time was one of the biggest challenges in my life. I believed that I could make a difference in patients’ lives, so I was determined to succeed.
Did you have a mentor?
When I was an undergraduate considering dental school, I had a job shadow with a local dentist. He became my mentor over the years, giving me tips on everything from taking care of patients to specific dental techniques. He passed away a few years ago and I am grateful for everything he shared with me.
Do you have any regrets about your career choices?
I have no regrets. My other choice was going to medical school, but I feel like my talents are better used as a dentist. I’m sure I would have been successful as a doctor, but I have no regrets about choosing this path for myself.
Which business leaders do you admire most?
I have been inspired by the example of Bob Iger. He stepped into Disney, a huge corporation, and brought it to even greater heights. He was able to transform the company through his own management style, cutting costs while encouraging innovation.
What does the future hold for your company?
I hope that I will be practicing dentistry twenty years from now. I plan to continue seeing patients as long as possible, and I plan to keep updating my skills. I enjoy attending classes to learn about new techniques and new materials. Dentistry is a constantly evolving field.
What is the most important aspect of your brand?
The most important aspect of my brand is my patients’ happiness. There are many dentists to choose from in our area, and it can be hard to find anything that truly sets us apart. The one thing that I can do to make my business stand out is to make sure that my patients are well-cared for.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by innovation. I love learning new techniques, as I said in a previous answer. I hope that I never stop learning new techniques. Of course, I am motivated by financial success as well, since I am able to make myself a comfortable living and stay on top of my personal expenses.
How do you unwind?
I am a private pilot and I enjoy flying my own plane all over the country. Flying is truly relaxing for me. It is wonderful to be in the sky away from my daily concerns. I believe that hard work has to be accompanied by rest and relaxation. I have a pit bull who is my pride and joy. I also love to play tennis with my friends.
Do you have any advice for our readers?
I would like to tell your readers that if you have a firm idea of what you want your future to be like, you should stick to it. Some of my college friends tried to talk me out of going to dental school, but I’m so happy I didn’t listen to them.
Taking all of my career experiences into consideration, I can also say that being fulfilled in your job should be your number one concern. If you do not enjoy your job, your life will be an endless slog toward the finish. If you are unhappy, change careers because life is short.
